Rapport, Gossip, and Modeling

I guess that everything happens for a reason. Right? You have these instances where you just wonder on what is going on and how things happen. If you had made that other decision, would you be in the same position that you need to be in? I had a meeting with a potential client and it was very insightful as to how they pictured their new employee to be. It wasn’t over the top expectations but, it was very transparent. I find this eye opening as I left a position myself that I thought was very transparent and they ended up being as clear as mud.

The drama was highly toxic and the gossip was something that should have been on one of those reality shows. I have never been so relived to leave in my life. And then the next opportunity fell into my lap.

The connections that you have are very important. I feel that when you make those, they can either last for a brief moment or they can last for a lifetime. In modeling it is no different than in the “real” world. You can break and burn bridges just as fast. Finding and making rapport is always something that is a value to your modeling business.

Learning to work with a new photographer is always hard but, if you can continue to work with them and you both grow your craft. It can only help benefit you both.

Paused.

Where does the time go to and where is the white out? I write this as I sit here wondering about how things are supposed to go and be planned. I had all of my journals ready to go and then, life happened. It was not like I wanted to have another time of silence and nothing new to put up but, again I just did not have the time or the energy to get it done.

I also moderate quite a few groups. Which in itself I have had to scale back on as I was getting to invested in the subjects and trying to help them follow the rules. Trying to keep the fights to a minimum but, make it a very good growing group that could be one of the best in the city. I think that I have accomplished that even with stepping down from two of them. The owners and I did not see eye to eye on some things. I also don’t believe that politics need to be brought into the group. Nor do personal matters. Those just turn into a he said, she said circus.

Fall is about to be here. Crazy as it is in the nineties here. I kind of want the cooler weather. I also wished I was not in a pandemic so I would have had a beach vacation in the last few months. Granted I know so many who have gone and had a great time. I just preferred to have my own staycation. It worked for me and my sanity.

Speaking of. How is everyone holding up? I keep reading on my social media on where all of these people are going to the hospital. This is not just for the pandemic, this is just on the average day emergency that I see images that I think would be on a medical show! Hoping that things will calm down before the holidays. Crossing my fingers.

For those who know me, I am a planner. I have ones for the current months and then I have the ones that are already made for the next year. I am the optimist as for getting the TO DO list off of my plate. I don’t like to have things to be hanging out there with e TBD date but, that is all that I have been doing with the pandemic going on. Even the safest people that I know, they have had or known someone who has come down with the virus. The good thing is that most of them have been mild cases.

I have found this transparent post it notes that are from Office Depot and I absolutely love them. They let you see anything below so you can put arrows…etc. on them to make the note stand out. I have a few of the colors. They have them in yellow, pink, white, and orange. It can really dress up your planner for sure. If you have not tried them out, they are really inexpensive. Now to put more stuff on my calendar?

FOMO

I hate having FOMO but, then you have to sit back and think are you really missing out on something that you would be having a good time? Was it really the sale of the century? Could you have made those connections?

I woke up today and I know that I slept as my app that told me that I slept 9 hours, my mind was racing as I again felt that I had missed something. I hate when that happens as I keep trying to make my schedule to accommodate things. I then find that I have overbooked things and can NOT be in two places at once. I know that I woke up in the middle of the night as I kept thinking that I was actually going to be late. And then I was a little late anyways. I really need to set an alarm clock to be there even earlier. I guess more FOMO to come.

Can You Use Those Images??

In all of the years of modeling, it is one of the most posed questions but, it is not investigated enough. Most images are not even supposed to be used for the promotion of the model. It needs to be written in the modeling release and also the modeling contract on where the images are going and how they can be used. There also should be a small line of that a model should not be editing or using those annoying filters on the work of a photographer.

Please talk with your agent, photographer or anyone who has the vested interest in the images to where they can and can NOT be used. The last thing that you want to find out is that your image was used or sold to someone that you were unaware of. Or that you were now due some compensation and it will take some time and energy to get that information. The main copyright of images will remain with the photographer. Get copies of all paperwork from your shoot and file it. Keep it for as long as you plan to use those images. Better to get permission than get a lawsuit later for misuse!
