Song Titles

I am sure you have had a song that you hear or a title being played and instantly you have a memory. Whether it be a good or bad one, you have it. Those also can be the inspiration for some great photo shoot concepts.

I love the 80’s. I won’t lie. Even if they were not the happiest years of my life, the music was amazing! And a lot of those memories even if they were few and far between, they were life changing. Bands like Def Leppard, Ratt, Poison, Warrant, Genesis, Winger, Skid Row, Duran Duran, Van Halen, and many more. Those were my go to bands. Whenever I wanted to bring myself out of a bad mood, I would tune into one of those bands to get me out of that funk.

I did find it funny that early in my modeling career you always had the photographer who would play the radio and ask what type of music you wanted to listen to, Or even when you wanted to make that mixtape of all of your favorite songs.

Then I wonder if my life was turned into a song title. What would that title be?

Day 31 Critique?

I had a conversation the other day and I was a little baffled by it all. I had someone who had been shooting for a very shot time period tell me that I needed to be on a certain platform of social media. I digress. I am on various social media and don’t have time to keep up with them all. And then there is the fact of you can’t be social if you are updating all of your social media all of the time!

I appreciate the critique. I find that we all do our modeling businesses differently. We have our quirks. How we operate might not work for some but, then it works for others. You just have to find out what works for you. Some people love that they take a selfie about everywhere that they go. Some people work well with live videos. There are a million ways to have your presence and make your own footprint. Whether you walk your own runway in heels, flats, or running shoes…it is all up to you. Just take the critique as that.

Day 30 Really you bailed?

I had a few people who had messaged me about shoots and then nothing. I think that they call is ghosting. I am not sure what I would call it other than being annoying. It is work to network. I can’t tell you the hours that it takes to get things planned. I can’t see just throwing things together and hoping that they turn out ok.

I had one photog. His initials are MB and I used his conversation as a lesson to others. I was like. He came to me and said that he wanted to book me again and then once I again gave him information, he bailed! Had another model who wanted to meet and the day before, his initials are SK, he says oh I can’t meet now. I get that things change but, if you are NOT going to communicate, then I have an issue. I guess I need to start issuing a modeling hall pass?

Day 27 – If You Are Passionate

If you are passionate for what you do or for what you stand for, there are a lot of emotions that go with that. It is one of the few things that can rile someone up and make them really go after someone or something. I became passionate about modeling back in the day when images were on film. Social media was hardly a thing. The networking was on websites and on forums. It was more local.

I find that some who claim that they are professionals really are more hobbyists. They like being in front of or behind the camera. They don’t put much effort into it. They would never make it into a full time or full-fledged business. It would take too much effort.

I wish that more models and photographers would be more passionate about their craft. There are a lot of people who are out there trying to learn, network, and create some amazing images. Then you have those who just throw things together and it does look like they just threw things together. If people could figure that their images meant something, even if it was something simple. Could make it more amazing. It could be if you are passionate.

Day 25 – Get Off of My Page!

I have rants. I know that most people do especially with the life of social media. The worst thing that I have had to deal with lately is the fact that I had a person who messaged me with just rude messages and his own naked pictures. I about threw up! It was the most annoying thing as I just did not want to be mean to someone but, really? Is this the best way you think to get attention? I think that there is a better way to communicate!

The other thing was that I had been asked from a fellow photog about my current situation in modeling. Granted I had been taking some time off to take care of the medical issues at hand. It really ended up badly and I ended up unfriending him. To me he was not acting like a friend should act. His definition and mine were quite different.

To me there are times that where people can get into arguments and debates and then go back to normal. Whatever that may be. Other times it is really good to get then out of the picture and be done with them. Time for them to get off of my page!
